Detailed Solution

The minerals are formed by the decomposition of rocks, leaving a residual mass of weathered material is Bauxite
Bauxite is a non-ferrous metallic mineral, which means it doesn't contain iron in it. Aluminium, a vital metal, is obtained from bauxite ores. Another metal obtained from it is Gallium. Bauxite deposits are made up of a wide variety of rock decomposition as it is a sedimentary rock. Occur in a wide range of colours, red, grey, yellow, pink, brown etc. Odisha is the largest producer of bauxite in India, and it alone produces more than half of bauxite production (51 % ). Other states are Andhra Pradesh ( 16 % ), Gujarat (9 %), Jharkhand (6 %), Maharashtra (5 % ), Chhattisgarh (4 %) and Madhya Pradesh (4 %).
