Detailed Solution

The Godavari is also known as the ‘Dakshin Ganga.’ It is known as Dakshin Ganga because this is the second-longest river in India after the Ganga. Also, it is the longest river in peninsular India as it flows through five states in India which are Maharashtra, Telangana, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh. It has ten major tributaries: Pravara, Mula, Manjeera, Manyar, and Kinnersaini. These are the right bank tributaries, and Dudhna, Purna, Pranhita, Indravati, Sabari, etc., are its left bank tributaries. One of the major projects on this river is Pollavaram Irrigation Project.
