Detailed Solution

Through a short sea route, the Palk Strait and the Gulf of Mannar separate Sri Lanka from India.
The Indian Ocean contains the Gulf of Mannar. It is located in the Coromandel Court region and is part of the Laccadive Sea. The Gulf of Manner has India's first marine biosphere reserve, called the Gulf of Mannar Biosphere Reserve. Palk Strait is an inlet (a small strip of water that comes from a large body of water) of the Bay of Bengal. It is between the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and the Northern Province of Sri Lanka.
