An east-west corridor connects Silchar and Porbandar.
The government had planned to build six-lane super roads to connect the main cities of Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Delhi. Silchar and Porbandar corridor is a part of this project. The goal was to reduce the time it took to travel between these cities. Apart from these super highways, there are the east-west and north-south corridors, which are also built to ease the distance between the terminal and connecting cities. This project is being implemented by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
