Munro introduced a system names Ryotwari.
The Ryotwari system was introduced by Munro and Charles Reed in 1820 in the region of Madras and Bombay. It was a land revenue system in which the British government could directly deal with the cultivators so that the commission, exploitation, and false revenue were removed. It was a direct settlement between the cultivator and the government. In this system, the payment was fixed for a particular year period, which was not more than 30 years. This became a rigid system for cultivators.
