Peristalsis is movement of food through oesophagus where the muscles play an important role. 

Parturition is a process in which smooth muscles contract to eject the foetus. 

As muscular tissue contracts, it produces heat (thermogenesis). Much of the heat generated by muscle is used to maintain normal body temperature. Involuntary contractions of skeletal muscles can increase the rate of heat production (shivering thermogenesis).
