Detailed Solution

Muslin was named after Mosul. Indian textiles were renowned for their exquisite quality and craftsmanship in the 18th century. The names of the materials indicated their histories. Muslin was a finely woven textile and was widely used. The Muslin textile was introduced to the Europeans by the Arab merchants at a place called Mosul in Iraq. As it was introduced in Mosul, it acquired the name Muslin. The Europeans used the term "Muslin " for all the finely woven cloth. Dacca, now in Bangladesh, was the most famous centre for producing fine Muslin in the 17th and 18th centuries. It was in massive demand in Europe and was exported in large quantities.
