Mycoplasma lacks cell wall hence they are insensitive to penicillin. This is because penicillin prevents the formation of the cell wall in bacteria ultimately killing them. As mycoplasma lacks cell wall therefore penicillin cannot stop their growth. But they are sensitive to metabolic inhibitors like tetracyclin.
