Detailed Solution

Nagarjuna Sagar dam is jointly operated by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is a masonry dam that crosses the Krishna River at Nagarjuna Sagar, straddling the border between the Telangana district of Nalgonda and the Andhra Pradesh district of Palnadu. The dam serves the districts of Nalgonda, Suryapet, Krishna, NTR, Bapatla, Eluru, Palnadu, Khammam, West Godavari, Guntur, and Prakasam with irrigation water and energy generation. Between 1955 and 1967, the dam constructed a water reservoir with a gross storage capacity of 11.472 billion cubic metres. The dam is 490 feet tall at its deepest foundation, 0.99 miles long, and has 26 floodgates that are 42 feet wide and 45 feet tall. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana jointly manage it.
