Detailed Solution

The Himachal or Lesser Himalayas lies between Himadri and the Shiwaliks. The three parallel ranges - Himadri, Himachal, and Shiwalik - make up the Himalayan mountain ranges. These ranges are distinct with deep valleys and plateaus separating them. The Himachal, also known as the Lesser or Middle Himalayas, is the middle range to the south of Himadri. The ranges are uneven with high peaks and are made of metamorphic rocks. The easter slopes are gentle, with dense forests, while the gentle slopes of the north had dense vegetation. The southern slopes were very steep with little to no vegetation. The hill towns and resorts like Nainital, Mussoorie, Darjeeling, and Shimla are on the Himachal ranges. In Jammu and Kashmir, these ranges have the name Pir Panjal and the Kashmir valley extends from these ranges to the Himadri range.
