Corn law allowed the British government to restrict the import of corn. In the 18th century, the demand for food grains increased in Britain due to population growth. The adaptiveness to changing patterns of food was good. But an arrogant mindset of self-sufficiency makes Britain a problem. As the new centres expanded, there was an increase in the price of agricultural products and food grains. After all, land owners and the government restricted the import of corn through laws also known as the “Corn Laws”. The British government passed the law under the pressure of land owners because of high food grain prices.
