Detailed Solution

The Aravallis bounds the Central Highlands on the northwest. To the north of river Narmada lies the Central Highlands, a part of the Peninsular Plateau. It is bounded by the Aravallis on the northwest and the Vindhya ranges to the south. The Central Highlands are the northern boundaries of the Deccan plateau, which is also a part of the Peninsular plateau. The Chotanagpur and Malwa plateau are a part of these highlands. With slopes to the north and northeast, the Central Highlands has an elevation of about 600-900 meters. The tributaries of the river Yamuna mostly originate from the Vindhya and nearby Kaimur ranges. The peninsular rivers flow from west to east except for the west-flowing Narmada and Tapi. The Chotanagpur plateau is a mineral reserve.
