The Justice Party was the party of non-Brahmans in the Madras Presidency. It was set up by C. Natesa Mudaliar T. M. Nair Theagaroya Chetty. At first, it was a South Indian Liberation Federation (SILF), later known as the Justice Party after the ‘Justice’ newspaper. It was formed to fight against the discrimination non-Bhramans and facing and to find political space in the Brahman-dominated society. They boycotted the non-cooperation movement in Madras for council election. In the Madras Presidency, the Justice party found this an opportunity to enter the council to gain some power, which usually Bramhans had.
