Detailed Solution

The Axis powers consist of Germany and Japan.
The Second World War occurred between 1939 to 1945. The members of the Axis were  Germany, Italy and Japan. Meanwhile, the Allies comprised the UK or Britain, France, and Poland. Though the USSR was a friend of Germany when the Second World War commenced, the situation changed drastically and surprisingly, on 22 June 1941, Germany attacked Russia. Due to this, Russia joined the Allies. Moreover, the US was impartial during the Second World War, but the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941. Thus due to this raid, the US joined the Allies, as Japan was in the Axis group.
