Oudh Kisan Sabha was founded by Jawaharlal Nehru, Baba Ramachandra, and others. It was also called Awadh Kisan sabha; within a month, 300 branches were set up in the village. This was mainly formed to fight against the atrocities of the Zamindars. It leads to the disappointment of congress leadership. When the Non-Cooperation movement started, Congress put effort into integrating the peasants’ struggle into a nationwide battle. As the movement spread across the country, peasants attacked the houses of talukdars and merchants, bazaars were looted, and grain hoards. Some local leaders and nationalists told peasants that Gandhi had declared that no taxes would be paid. They also redistributed land among the poor.
