Detailed Solution

Napoleon invaded Italy in 1797.
The French military started exporting nationalism after the Revolutionary Wars, beginning with the invasion of Italy in 1797. Napoleon Bonaparte pushed his troops into Italy in 1797. But he was significantly outnumbered. He confronted 38,000 Austrians and their allies, including 25,000 Piedmontese, with his 38,000 French forces. Bonaparte's strategy aimed to separate the Piedmontese and Austrians before conquering each group separately. So he first attacked Piedmont and, eventually, invaded Italy in 1797.
