The Narmada Bachao Andolan is related to the Sardar Sarovar Project.
Launched in 1985, the project was carried out in Gujarat, which mobilized tribals, environmentalists, and farmers against the construction of a sizable dam on the Narmada river. Over 3000 large and small dams were supposed to be constructed along the river as part of the Narmada Dam Project.
