National Consumer Day in India is observed every year on the 24th of December. It is celebrated because the Parliament of India enacted the Consumer Protection Act in 1986. India is one of the few countries with separate courts for consumer redressal called "consumer forum courts." With consumer progress, the government has also set up a separate ministry for consumer protection called the Ministry of Consumer Affairs at the central and state levels. Thus, the Indian government has taken care of consumer protection.
