Detailed Solution

National parties are recognized by Election Commission. Multiple political parties exist in the Indian political system. Moreover, people in India are free to create as many political parties as they want to represent the interests of certain sections of society or the nation as a whole. The Election Commission is the rightful authority to register these political parties. This constitutional body has even laid down specific criteria to recognize a political party as a national or state party based on the kind of guidelines the political party meets. These national parties have their presence at the national and sub-unit levels. Currently, seven political parties have been labelled as national parties.
