Detailed Solution

Nawabs of Awadh and Bengal tried to do away with the Jagirdari  system.
To lessen Mughal influence in the areas, the Nawabs of Awadh and Bengal attempted to abolish the jagirdari system by reducing the number of Mughal-appointed officials (jagirdars). They also made jagirs smaller and filled open positions with their devoted workers. Officials chosen by the Nawab's court reassessed the revenues of all districts and audited the Jagirdar accounts to prevent fraud. Murshid Quli Khan ordered a thorough reevaluation of Bengal's revenues and transferred all Mughal jagirdars to Orissa to lessen Mughal influence in Bengal. Cash payments were made to all zamindars with great zeal. Many zamindars were consequently compelled to obtain loans from banks and moneylenders.
