Hitler believed in the idea of Lebensraum, which meant living space. According to him, the territories of the nation had to be expanded for settlement. He wanted to enlarge the area of Germany and settle German people in new territories. Moreover, by acquiring new territories, the resources and powers of the German nation would also be enhanced. It would help German nations to develop their hegemony over the world. Thus, Hitler opined for the enlargement of the territories towards the east to unify all Germans under one territory. Hence, the first experimentation with this system was performed in Poland.
