Detailed Solution

Nazism became a mass movement during the Great Depression.
Hitler intended to march on Berlin, seize authority, and take over after holding control of Bavaria in 1923. He failed, was taken into custody, imprisoned for treason, and then released. Before the early 1930s, the Nazis could not successfully mobilise the populace. Nazism rose to prominence as a widespread movement during the Great Depression. Following 1929, businesses closed, banks failed, employees lost their jobs, and the middle class faced financial ruin. Nazi propaganda stoked expectations of an improved future under such circumstances. The German parliament, the Reichstag, and the Nazi Party received no more than 2.6% vote in 1928. With 37% of the vote in 1932, it had become the dominant party.
