Nelson Mandela was a great leader who fought for the apartheid system of racial discrimination which was prevalent in Africa when the Europeans captured parts of it way back in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. He spent 28 years of his life in the most dreaded prison in Africa, Robben Island. The native population of Africa was called blacks due to their colour of skin. The white rulers though comprising only one-third of the population ruled the natives by following all the cruel measures possible.
