Neutrons are the best projectiles to produce nuclear reactions. Why?

Neutrons are electrically neutral. In the case of protons and $\mathrm{\alpha }$ -particles, it is difficult to collide the nuclei due to force of repulsion. But neutrons do not have that repulsion. Therefore, they collide the nuclei easily and produce nuclear reactions.
