Detailed Solution

Nineteenth-century indentured labour has been described as a new system of slavery.
The case of indentured labour migration from India serves as another example of the dualistic structure of nineteenth-century society. During this period, there was both rapid economic growth and great suffering. Indenture in the nineteenth century has also been called a "new system of slavery." Thus thousands of Indian and Chinese labourers worked on plantations, mines, and international road and railroad construction projects. Unfortunately, the conditions on the plantations were not what the labourers had anticipated when they arrived. The employers did not fulfil the contract clauses, and the labourers were forced into difficult working and living circumstances with few legal rights.
