Nirmala works as a tailor in an export garment unit, which makes summer clothes for countries like the U.K, U.S.A, Germany, and the Netherlands. Normal working hours are from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm and six days a week. When the workload is too heavy, they have to work on Sunday. Nirmala gets Rs 80 daily for eight hours and Rs 40 for extra work.
