Detailed Solution

The first oxidation step is conversion of phosphoglyceraldehyde to 1, 3 bisphosphoglyceraldehyde (3C). The first decarboxylation step in kreb cycle is formation of alpha ketoglutaric acid from oxalosuccinic acid (6C). Therefore,  it is half the no. of carbons present in substrate for first decarboxylation in Krebs cycle.
