The balanced chemical equation for the formation of ozone from oxygen is:

3O2 → 2O3

This means that for every 3 volumes of oxygen, 2 volumes of ozone are produced. So, to produce 4 volumes of ozone, we can use the following proportion:

3 volumes of O2 / 2 volumes of O3 = x volumes of O2/ 4 volumes of O3

Cross-multiplying, we get:

3 volumes of O2x 4 volumes of O3 = 2 volumes of O3x x volumes of O2

Simplifying, we get:

12 volumes of O2 = 2x volumes of O2

Dividing both sides by 2, we get:

x = 6 volumes of O2

Therefore, 6 volumes of oxygen will react to produce 4 volumes of ozone.
