One fourth of June, a large crowd of weavers revolted and demanded the contractor's higher wages. Workers across Europe staged several rallies in response to unemployment and poverty. They placed an order for completed textiles but cut their payments. As a result, the labourers were impoverished and miserable. Consequently, the Silesian weavers' insurrection occurred in 1845. On June 4, at 2 pm, a big crowd of weavers marched in pairs to one of the contractors' residences, requesting a salary raise. They were, however, met with derision and threats. Then several weavers stormed into the home and broke the windows, furniture, and porcelain. They demolished his residence and burst into the storeroom, where all the fabric was kept, and the textile supplies were ripped to shreds. The contractor escaped with his family but returned to the army after 24 hours. The contractor summoned the troops, and eleven weavers were killed in the ensuing battle.
