Detailed Solution

On May 10, 1857, the soldiers marched to the jail in Meerut and released the incarcerated sepoys.
On May 10, the army marched to Meerut's jail and freed the imprisoned sepoys. They assassinated British officers. They took rifles and ammunition, set fire to British houses and properties, and declared war on the Firangis. The soldiers were resolved to end their authority over the country. But who would be in charge instead? The army had an answer for this: Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar. The Meerut sepoys rode all night on May 10 to arrive in Delhi early the next morning. As word of their arrival spread, the troops stationed in Delhi revolted as well. Once again, British officers were slain; weapons and ammunition were seized, and buildings were destroyed.
