Detailed Solution

On 12th March 1930, Mahatma Gandhi started a popular movement. It was called the Dandi March.
The Dandi March began on 12th March 1930, when Mahatma Gandhi and his volunteers left Sabarmati Ashram to protest British injustices and the salt monopoly. The British monopolised salt manufacture and levied a high tax on salt. Gandhi tried overthrowing the regulations by making salt from saltwater when he arrived in Dandi. This incident sparked the Civil Disobedience Movement. The Salt Satyagraha symbolised the nonviolent breach of all of the British government's harsh and discriminatory regulations.
