Concept: 12 minutes 50 seconds is the value obtained after adding the given time units. To solve this question, we need to know that 60 seconds get converted to 1 minute, i.e. , on adding suppose 40 secs and 30 seconds, we get 70 secs which will get converted to (60+10) seconds or 1 minute and 10 seconds.
Here, two times are given in the question. First, we will add the seconds, and if they add up to less than 60, we will simply add the minutes and obtain our final answer.
But if the seconds add up to more than 60 seconds, we will need to add the additional minute to the summation of the minutes.
