Detailed Solution

Given, the salary increased by 25% and became Rs. 20000.
Let the original salary =x.
Increase in salary =25% of Rs.x
 =(25100)×x  =(25x100)  =(x4) Salary after increase =(x+(x4))  =(4x+x)4  =(5x4) Increased salary =Rs.20000 = 5x4
  x=(20000×4)5   x=4000×4   x=Rs.16000
Therefore, the original salary of the man is Rs.16000.
Hence, the correct option is 2.
