Detailed Solution

Given,
Selling price of 17 balls = Rs. 720
Loss equal to the cost price of 5 balls
Suppose
Cost price of the single ball = X
So, the cost price of the 17 balls = 17x
According to the question
Loss = Cost price  Selling price
Loss = 17x-720
17x-720=5x     {Loss equal to the cost price of 5 balls}
12x=720
x=60
Hence the cost price of the ball = Rs. 60.
Correct option is 4.
