Detailed Solution

On the basis of composition, matter can be classified as a compound, element, or mixture.

Solids, liquids, and gases are physical states of matter.

A compound is a substance composed of two or more elements. It is composed of a fixed proportion of chemically bonded atoms. It is composed of a fixed proportion of chemically bonded atoms. It has its own properties that are different from the properties of individual elements.

Pure samples of isolated elements are rare in nature. Mineral samples from the Earth's crust identify all 98 natural elements, but only a few can be detected as recognizable, relatively pure minerals.

Among elements, the most common "natural elements" are copper, silver, gold, and sulfur. Carbon is also commonly found in the form of charcoal, graphite, and diamond.

Noble gases (eg: neon) and rare metals (eg: mercury)  also occur in nature in a purely unbonded form. However, most of these elements occur in a mixed manner.

Hence, option A is correct.
