Detailed Solution

Indian states were reorganised in 1956 on the basis of language. The national movement established specific unity around a shared language, locale, and culture in addition to creating a pan-Indian national unity. As a result, it was resolved during the national movement that States would be founded on a shared cultural and linguistic identity to the greatest extent possible. In the end, this prompted the desire for the establishment of linguistic states following independence. The States Reorganisation Commission was established in December 1953, and it suggested the establishment of linguistic states, at least for the major language groups. The reorganisation of several states happened in 1956.
