Detailed Solution

On 4 August 1789, the Assembly passed a decree abolishing the feudal system of obligations and taxes.
The Third Estate representatives to the Estates General formed the National Assembly in July and passed important decrees that caused significant changes in French society in August. Popularly known as the August Decrees, they were given by the Assembly on 4th August 1789, which abolished feudalism and its system of taxes and obligations. The immediate reason for this action was spreading the Great Fear in the countryside. The term was used to refer to the peasant uprisings across the country against the lords or nobles, causing plenty of nobles to flee for their lives. In the worst affected areas, houses of lords and feudal records were burnt down.
