On which date is Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas) observed?

Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Divas, is observed every year on 26th November in India. The date marks the adoption of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly in 1949. Although the Constitution came into effect on 26th January 1950, November 26 was chosen to honor the foundational moment of India’s democracy. The Government of India officially declared it as Constitution Day in 2015 to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution. This observance reminds citizens of their duties and the core democratic values that guide the nation.
