Detailed Solution

Given that,
One-fourth of a herd of camels was seen in the forest. Twice the square root of the herd had gone to mountains and the remaining 15 camels were seen on the bank of a river.
Let the total numbers of camels be x   then the number of camels seen in the forest will be x 4   .
Now, according to the question,
x 4 +2 x +15=x 3x8 x 60=0 3 y 2 8y60=0      x= y 2
On simplifying further,
3 y 2 8y60=0 3y+10 y6 =0 y=6,y= 10 3   The fractional value of y will be neglected because camels can’t be in fraction.
Now,
x= y 2 x= 6 2 x=36
The number of camels is 36.
Hence, option 3 is correct.
