The one-horned rhinoceroses live in the jungles of Assam.

The rhinos are spotted in the following national parks Kaziranga National Park, Assam (90%), Jaldapara National Park, West Bengal, Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, Orang National Park, Gorumara National Park in West Bengal, and Dudhwa National Park, Uttar Pradesh.

Kaziranga National Park is a reserved forest having many one-horned rhinoceroses. A national park is an area declared as a reserve by the government to protect the plants and animals in a region.

To preserve Big-Horned Rhinos, the National Rhino Conservation Strategy introduce in 2019. The goal is to have at least 3000 greater one-horned rhinos living in the wild in the Indian state of Assam by 2020, distributed among seven protected areas.
