Detailed Solution

At Smithfield, there was once one of London's oldest animal marketplaces.
Animals were transported alive from America to Europe until the 1870s, where they were then butchered. Farmers took cattle to fairs for trading and selling. Smithfield in London had one of the city's first cattle marketplaces. A large poultry and meat market was built close to the railroad line connecting Smithfield to the nation's meat-supplying centers in the middle of the nineteenth century.
