Detailed Solution

Let us fix the weight of 'B'
I) 1 part of A combines with 2 parts of B
X part of A combines with 1 parts of B
   Weight of 'A' combining with 1 part of B = \frac{1}{2}=0.5
II) 1 part of A combines with 4 parts of B
X part of A combines with 1 parts of B
   Weight of 'C' combining with 1 part of B = \frac{6}{4}=1.5
   WA:WC combinining with fixed weight of B = 0.5:1.5 = 1:3
III) If A and C combine with each other their weight ratio will be the same (or) multiple (or) submultiple of the ratio in which they combine with fixed weight of 'B'. This is law of reciprocal proportions.
