Detailed Solution

Orthodox Hindu society reacted by founding the Brahman Sabha in Bengal. The non-Brahman movement was started by the non-Brahman castes who had access to wealth, education, and power. They argued that Brahmans were the offspring of northern Aryan conquistadors who had seized southern areas from the indigenous Dravidian races who had previously resided there. When these arguments were refuted, upper-caste nationalist leaders had to reassess their beliefs and conduct some introspection. The Brahman Sabha and Sanatan Dharma Sabhas, as well as the Bharat Dharma Mahamandal in the north, were established in response to traditional Hindu culture. These groups aimed to uphold caste disparities as a core component of Hinduism and show how the scriptures sanctified them.
