Otto von Bismarck was the chief minister of Prussia. The unification of Germany was greatly helped by Otto von Bismarck. He is also known for his "Blood and Iron" tenet. In 1848, middle-class Germans attempted to create a nation-state by fusing the various German confederation districts together. This procedure was designed by Prussia's chief minister, Otto von Bismarck. In his quest, he enlisted the aid of the Prussian military and bureaucracy. Over the course of seven years, there were three wars with Austria, Denmark, and France. The conflicts were won by Prussia, completing the unification process. In a ceremony performed at Versailles on January 18, 1871, in the presence of significant authorities, army representatives, and Otto von Bismarck, William I, the Prussian monarch, was proclaimed the German Emperor.
