Detailed Solution

Over 80,000 tigers, 1,50,000 leopards and 2,00,000 wolves were killed for rewards from 1875 through 1925.
Hunting was always an important aspect of human society. Along with agriculture, fishing and gathering became profoundly rooted in human traditions. Hunting has been depicted in many artworks and pictures from the Middle Ages and the colonial period. The British thought they could civilise India by killing dangerous animals. The British awarded rewards for shooting tigers, wolves, and other large mammals because they threatened cultivation. For the reward, around 80,000 tigers, 150,000 leopards, and 200,000 wolves were shot between 1875 and 1925. Over time, hunting tigers turned into a Sporting Trophy.
