Over grazing results in soil erosion.

Soil erosion is said to occur when the top layer of soil gets removed or lost. The roots of trees hold the soil in position and prevent it from displacing. Hence, forest protects the soil from erosion. Overgrazing not only destroys the plants and its roots but due to this the hold of plants on the soil also weakens resulting in soil erosion due to strong winds or heavy rainfall.
