Formation of ATP from ADP and Pi during oxidation of substrates, like reduced coenzymes, such as NADH+H+ and FADH2, through ETS is called oxidative phosphorylation. ATP are formed in F particle in accordance with chemiosmotic hypothesis.

(1) Formation of ATP by transfer of phosphate from substrate to ADP is called substrate level phosphorylation. There is no process in which phosphate group of ATP is oxidized, or another phosphate is added to ATP.
