The Old Stone Age is another name for the Palaeolithic Stone Age. The name alludes to the significance of stone tool discoveries. During this time, early man created and used crude stone tools. Agriculture was unknown to men during this period. They were nomadic hunters and gatherers. The Palaeolithic period lasted between 2 million and 12,000 years ago. This long period is divided into three parts: the Lower, Middle, and Upper Palaeolithic.
