"Passive resistance" was used as a weapon by Mahatma Gandhi. He first used it in South Africa when he saw the oppressive nature of the colonial government. When he came to India, he saw the same conditions all over the country. As part of passive resistance, he used satyagraha and non-violence to mobilise the people against the British. It meant using the strongest soul force to combat every injustice, exploitation, and oppression.
