Detailed Solution

Gujjar Bakarwals are the pastoralist nomads of the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (a special status state before). Nomadic pastoralists are animal herders who practice pastoralism and travel from one place to another for livelihood purposes and in search of pastoral grounds for theirs. During the winters, the Gujjar Bakarwals spend their day in the lower forests at the foothills of the mountains, in the Bhabar region; while they migrate towards the mountains during the summers. Dry scrub forests provide better grazing grounds for their herds and in a way, favor pastoralism. This is why the pastoralists move to places that have the availability of dry scrubs.
